Biography

Pharmacist Soliu Abiola ATUNWA (Ph.D.) is an astute researcher, passionate lecturer, and upcoming scientist in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. He has served as the Departmental Examination Officer, Level Adviser, and Faculty Representative for many sessions.

He has keen interests in Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences (Neuropsychopharmacology); Ethnopharmacology/Drug Discovery, Design & Development; Public (Mental) Health/Pharmacoepidemiology; Pharmacy/Pharmacology Education; Neuroscience Advocacy & Science Communication; and Community Pharmacy Practices.

His main research goal is to discover and develop novel therapeutics from natural products including the rich Nigerian medicinal plants biodiversity for the management of neurodegenerative and neurological conditions with bias in dementia.

He is the Lead Researcher, Translational Neuroscience and Drug Research Laboratory and currently a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Natural Products Discovery (CNPD), School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Dr. S.A. Atunwa has published over thirty peer-reviewed publications in reputable outlets covering journals and edited conference proceedings. He has equally won several competitive scholarship and travel awards, and research grants. He is a member of many prestigious professional bodies within and outside Nigeria.
